You got his main books: Batman and Detective Comics, and his other books: Batman & the Outsiders and Justice League of America. Also, there is an All-Star Batman & Robin which is a retelling of the Batman story (similar to the Marvel Ultimate comics) You could start either way as far as back issues or current issues. I would recommend the back issues (or trade paperback since they will usually contain the complete storyline). Try Batman Year One, Batman The Dark Knight Returns, Batman The Long Halloween, or Batman Death in the City. If you do want to start with the new comics, a new storyline has started called Batman RIP but it will be spread over to other comics such as Robin & Nightwing.
